The Guadalupe and the Comal
There are a few trails in New Braunfels that make you feel like you’re in a secluded pocket of nature, even though you’re still in town. Landa Park has a beautiful, lush, and hilly hike just beyond the paved walking paths near the Comal River. It’s called Panther Canyon and is about 1.2 miles long. Another great spot is Dry Comal Creek. It’s near a bunch of baseball fields, but once you’re on the trail, you’re surrounded by trees. There are several paths that intersect within the forest, so your hike can be as short or as long as you want it to be.
Best Trails in New BraunfelsFloating is one of the best ways to enjoy the uniqueness of a New Braunfels summer. You can float on both the Comal and Guadalupe rivers. The Comal is more touristy and offers a float that lasts around one to two hours. It stays at a steady 75 degrees year-round. The Guadalupe, on the other hand, is more serene and natural, with floats ranging from two to four hours depending on water levels. Many people also fish or paddleboard on the Guadalupe, adding to its laid-back vibe.
Tube with Rockin' RThere are two main golf courses in New Braunfels: The Bandit Golf Club and Landa Park Golf Course. Landa Park Golf Course is the more well-known of the two. It’s open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and wildlife like deer are often seen on the course. It’s also a great way to take in different views of downtown New Braunfels. While they don’t have a traditional driving range, they do have a net to keep balls from flying into the road that leads to the Comal River. They also offer a chipping and putting green!
